I have a homework on formaldehyde.

There is this sentence:

It is produced on a large scale from methanol, most commonly by the “Formox” process which is an oxidation reaction of MeOH, however it can also be produced directly by dehydrogenation over a silver based catalyst:

CH3OH(g) → CH2O(g) + H2(g) 500 – 1000 K steps of 20 K

Can you please explain to me what does it mean, and the word formox I do not get what it is.
