A 5 nm film of gold is vapor deposited onto a 1 mm thick silver substrate. This sample is annealed at a constant temperature of 1100K, at which the diffusivity of Au in Ag is 10^-11 cm²/sec. Gold and silver are completely miscible, are FCC metals, with a lattice constant of 0.4 nm (assume identical atomic volumes). How long does it take for the concentration of Au at the surface to drop to 10 atomic % ?
