We"ve all been in that situation before- weighing the choice of voluntarily doing the action we should do- the right one- or walking away because we don"t feel like it"s our job to care. It"s a struggle that determines whether or not you feel obligation. An act or course of action to which a person is morally/legally bound, or required; a duty or commitment. this obligation, or duty, is universal. Everyone has felt this sense, and deciding whether we feel obligated or not is a daily occurrence. However small and unconscious these decisions to be dutiful may seem, i argue it is complex and affected by several factors: one"s incentives, the depth of duty commitment, and the manner in which duties are executed. Duty in literature is no exception- the overlaying theme of duty in both the iliad"s soldiers and. Oresteia"s orestes is manifested differently because divine interference affects how duty is presented.
