The view that everything that exists is matter, i. e. physical. For what is the heart, but a spring; and the nerves, but so many strings;and the joints, but so many wheels, giving motion to the whole body . Understanding humans beings as part of the natural world. Empiricism - the view that all knowledge is derived from the evidence of the senses.
