PNB 4SC6 Midterm: PNB 4SC6 News Brief SAMPLE
Document Summary
Researchers explain the mysteries of our moral judgements how we decide whether an action is good or bad. Earlier studies suggest that people decide how moral (i. e. how good or bad) an action is based on a deterrence system. The deterrence system believes that our goal is to stop people from causing harm to others. A person"s intention and the outcome of their action helps you decide how bad an action is. According to the deterrence system, we judge morality based on how much one gains from doing something bad. Let"s say that there are two people applying for the same job position. One steals the other person"s application in order to get the job. When you judge how wrong this action is, you think that the more the cheater gains from doing something bad (e. g. gaining a life changing position instead of a temporary job), the more they should be punished.
