Process which cs & us are learned happens in very early trials. Ex: placing curved road signs: too late/right before = useless. too far ahead = might forget. As long as cs continues to be reliable cue for us = contingency remains. Loss of cr when cs no long predicts us. Repeating cs w/out us many time cr disappears, Extinction through new learning: learning that cs will no long predict us . Extinction: makes new learned response (cs without us ur fades) Cs not unlearned, just new contingency learned for same cs. Renewal: response extinguished in diff environment than acquired (rehab).
