- Means different things in different contexts
Sociology: Church, denomination, sect, cult are all terms used for different religious

- A group of like-minded people; different types of religious organizations
History: Cult refers to specific practices devoted to one deity or religious specialists/saint

turned, Christians wanted to prosecute non-believers as well just as they were
prosecuted for being Christians in the first place
Difference between conspiracies and conspiracy theories
- Conspiracy is a secret plot to do something wrong/controversial/unacceptable (i.e.
actually doing something wrong)
- Conspiracy theory is literally invoking the existence of a conspiracy (i.e. suspecting that
something wrong is being done on a large scale)
