Physiology is the study of normal function of a living organism and its component parts including all its chemical and physical processes. Homeostasis is the maintenance of a relatively stable internal environment. Negative feedback loop - response opposes or removes the signal but it cannot prevent the initial disturbance. Sensor nerve endings or thermo receptors sense the drop in body temperature. Input signal and integrating center nerve signals send signals to hypothalamus. Output signal nerve becomes electrically active when leaving the brain. Target/effectors skeletal muscles cause shivering to generate eat and blood vessels constrict to keep the heat in the body. Response elevation in body temperature back to normal body temp. Positive feedback loop not homeostatic b/c response reinforces/escalates the stimulus. When baby is ready to be delivered it drops lower in the uterus and puts pressure on the cervix.
