Sycophant: obsequiously flatters a powerful person for personal gain. Edify: to educate or enlighten, to improve knowledge or morals of somebody. Portend: to indicate or signify the arrival of something, usually unpleasant. Bloviator: forcefully expresses opinions on topics to pretend to be an expert; someone who speaks excessively. Plutocracy: a society ruled by the rich and wealthy. Dilettante: someone who dabbles in knowledge (only has a very superficial understanding of it) Dishevel: to mess sth up, usually w/ respect to somebody"s hair or clothing. Ex post facto: applying the events that have already occurred. Verisimilar: seeming to be true but no evidence. Ex silentio: a form of legal logic; lack of opposing evidence. Unctuous: attempting to charm somebody in a condescending way. Moribund: dying, nearly dead or having lost vitality & purpose. Acrimonius: resentful and angry full of anger. Abstemious: moderate - a person who doesn"t engage in excesses, such as alcohol or eating.
