At a glance, it seems as if having meaningful connections with the outdoors means two things; either bringing the children outside, or bringing the outdoors inside. However, this week with the help of the readings, i had my eyes opened about the endless possibilities that can take place. One bold statement that resonated with me while reading the web post by white (2006) was how they mentioned knowledge without love will not stick. When we do so, it is simply the beginning of an incredible scientific exploration process and a ton of fun for the children (curtis and carter, 2014). I"m guilty of taking kids outside simply because of the surplus energy theory and allowing that theory to take focus of the play time outside (white, 2006). However, this week"s reading shifted my perspective in that perhaps there is more things to learn about outdoors than there is inside our indoor classrooms.
