Document Summary

Lo1 describe the changes occurring today in the management function. Resources is a general term that incorporates human resources, natural resources, and financial resources. At one point managers told people what to do, and were more knowledgeable than the employees. They change the definition of work from a task you do, to something you do anywhere, anytime: teamwork etc. Future managers will need to be globally prepared foreign language skills, ease in other cultures, and adaptability. Lo2 describe the four functions of management. Lo3 relate the planning process and decision making to the accomplishment of company goals. Vision is more than a goal; it is an explanation of why the organization exists and where it is trying to head. Value is a set of fundamental beliefs that guide a business in the decisions it makes: strategic planning through day-to-day decisions. Mission statement is an outline of the fundamental purposes of an organization: self-concept, philosophy/goals, survival, needs, responsibility, and the nature.
