Document Summary

Topics: lecture 13: membrane trafficking, when extra cell membrane is needed, endocytosis, membrane changes, membrane coats, transport machinery, gtpase. Reason: it is important for the cells to communicate with each other in order to require resources. Think about it this way, it is the trafficking of the membrane. This involves the er, the golgi, endosomes, lysosomes and the plasma membrane. The er is where proteins are made, and the lysosomes break down the plasma membrane: polarized trafficking routes: the ends are different. There is a starting point and an end point: sorting stations: there is the transgolgi network. Some proteins go to early/late endosome, some goes to plasma membrane, etc: retrieval mechanism and general balance among routes: it doesn"t just go one way, you can retrieve them. It"s not just endocytosis, you can move stuff back. There are two secrete pathways, and they diverge at the transgogli network: constitutive: functions in all cells.
