The source of evil lay within the political bosses: over thirty years, robert succeeded in changing the politics and constitutions of his state. The lafollette family went on, in 1934, to officially divorce their progressive wing from the republican party and establish a wisconsin progressive party that would dominate the state of politics for the next twelve years.
