Historically archaeologists have not involved dine communities in archaeological work nor have the dine sought involvement. The nnhpd required to take tribal concerns into account. They are mainly involved now through ethnographic interviewing about traditional cultural properties. The dine often have negative sentiments toward archaeology due to it being an obstacle to vital infrastructure development. The navajo nation has 3 branch government - executive, legislative and judicial that function on behalf of citizens. Statistics on the navajo tell us that they have high rates of unemployment and low rates of nishing highschool. Most families continue to live without electricity or water. Only 5% make it to post secondary school. Before any home or business construction can be made for navajo nation, archaeological compliance work must be conducted. Research conducted by dine sometimes take over a year to be approved.
