Document Summary

The objective of this lab is to use models of a motor at known voltages to obtain unknown parameters. Using these parameters students can then determine differential equations that accurately describe the specific motor they have used. The pre-lab calculations are attached on the back of this report. To begin this section of the lab the students were to measure the bias current. This current was measured when the input voltage was zero. This value was important due to the fact it is later used to find the value of ia. Now that the student had found the bias current it was fairly simple to obtain an estimate for the motor"s resistance. To do so the student was to apply certain voltages to the motor while holding the motor shaft still. This made the speed of the motor shaft zero helping to obtain the resistance. The chart below displays these values in such a manner.
