Be able to contrast differences in gonads and accessory organs between male and female. Describe the relationship between the ovaries and the uterus. Explain the ovarian and uterine cycles comparing events that occur within various windows of time. Goands : ovaries: gametes produce haploid oocytes, sex hormones : estrogen & progesterone. Latent development of reproductive organs ( puberty: females have all gametes pre developed before birthing, males develop these gametes at puberty. Differences: gametes are formed before birth, women ovulate 1-2 eggs, ovulation of one ovum at a time, reproductive period, menstruation, menopause, prepares for fertilization, period menopause, men : starts at puberty but doesn"t really have an ending. Gonads : ovaries: produce gametes (ova, secrete sex hormones : estrogen & progesterone. Ovary : primary sex organ, internal genitalia. Uterine tubes : attached to uterus and drapes, accessory duct, internal over ovaries genitalia.
