Work most of the time but provide errors. Desensitization reduces feelings over something over increased exposure to it. Has some value but the theory doesn"t really hold up. Hovland and sears displaced aggression, once group felt that another group got rewards taken away from them and as a result prejudice is directed towards one group. Social identity enhances own self-esteem and categorization. Other people are getting in the way of getting what you want. A way to reduce it is to have them work together. If they don"t feel good about self by dumping on someone else because if someone is not as good, then you are better and increase social identity.
