Productivity was increasing rapidly during the economic revolution. This was due to two things: legal reasons, innovations. Capitalism requires private property, if you don"t own property you become a free laborer and all we have left is the sale of our own labor. In order to increase the productivity in a capitalist society, we needed a system to displace people from private property, to increase the amount of laborers. Missed that) system: this meant that land was help uncommon no one owned it and it was communally used. But for capitalist societies to bloom, the government had to put in enclosure laws: random people were fenced into properties, some people got land, and other people didn"t. Innovation lead to machinery being developed (these increase efficiency, so with more machines we have even more people out of jobs) This lead to a new culture in britain, there are now many people displaced who have nothing to sell except their own labor.
