The review sheet is not exhaustive of the topics that may be covered on the exam. Be familiar with the terms and concepts we have learned relating to categorical syllogisms: for instance, be able to identify terms, to say what the major, minor, and middle terms of a syllogism are, and major and minor premises. Understand standard form for categorical syllogisms and be able to place arguments in standard form. Be able to identify the mood and figure of categorical syllogisms. You do not need to (don"t) memorize the lists of valid forms if there is a question relating to this, a list will be provided. Be able to use venn diagrams to test categorical syllogisms for validity. Be sure that you are comfortable doing this both to test for unconditional validity from the boolean standpoint and for conditional validity from the aristotelian standpoint.
