Romanesque architecture: (1050-1200): romanesque cathedrals: classism of simplicity & balance: arches, columns, plain but massive, symmetry. Gothic is the center of medieval art. Because christianity focused on less about this-world (more salvation/suffering) lost realism in art: no more greco-roman ideals of harmonious proportions & balance, focused more on the soul & convert people to religious dogma. Art became the servant of the church.
