The power of the situation and con rmation bias. The situation: eight mentally sane individuals ( ve men and three women) get themselves admitted to mental health hospitals. The actions of our peers- our social equals -has a stronger in uence on our behavior than the directions of an authority. Conformity is a stronger social force than obedience.
