Document Summary

Reads mrna and directs the assembly of the protein. trna - transfer rna. Transfers amino acids to ribosomes in order to be assembled into proteins. Very specific to the amino acids it transfers, having anticodons on one end. mrna - messenger rna. a copy of the dna molecules containing the code for the amino acid sequence in the protein. Point mutation - base substitution; changes a single codon in the mrna. May or may not have any effect on the cell. Universal genetic code - all organisms and viruses use the same genetic code; the code that"s been proven to be identical for all organisms. Lysogeny - viral dna is integrated or inserted into bacterial dna. Transformation - a genetic change where extracellular dna is transferred to another bacterial cell via endocytosis. This extracellular dna may or may not be incorporated into the bacterial chromosomes.
