Positivist theories: remember the assumptions, empiricism, objectivism, things in the world can be objectively categorized, determinism, looking for cause and effect, what leads to deviance, all of these theories share these assumptions. Topics: positivist theories: free will, rational calculation, and routine activities theory, social disorganization and the chicago school, anomie / strain theory, differential association and learning theory, social control theory.
