**3 classes of movement: voluntary (speech), motor programs (walking), reflex (cough, knee-jerk) ** Sensation tuning (eye movement, head turning, ear movement, etc. ) Closed loop accuracy: system constantly receives feedback to fine tune movements, often large sensory integration, stimulus-guided . Open loop speed: motor programs, careful programming/anticipation of possible errors beforehand, does not require feedback, need all the time (ex: walking, climbing stairs, speaking etc. , ballistic movement (no inherent guiding system after initial aim-and-fire ) Very rapid, preprogrammed movement often controlled by cerebellum. Endpoint of a complex series of hierarchical commands (like sensation in reverse: much movement organization/planning prior to any visible movements. In general, depends on current environment/position and history/memory of movement: ex: walking up stairs know how to do it, but every stair is different; movements are not exactly identical, so must adapt. Acetylcholine used at all neuromuscular junctions (where motor neurons connect to motor plates of muscle fibers) Give a specific example to illustrate each one.
