Summary:
-A man lives with an older man who he somehow despised?
-He despises the man because of his eye, which is glassy and is always open and
seems to “see all”
-Basically one night he sets about murdering this old man; he goes on in detail of how
he prepared by staying very still at night
-The day he sets out to kill this man, he makes a noise and startles the older man
awake, and the older man stays awake for what seems an eternity
-Eventually the man can’t take it and kills the older man, and disposes of his body
beneath the wooden floorboards

-The police enter the scene as they received a tip from neighbors, and the man
entertains them...until he goes mad with guilt (he thinks he hears the older man’s heart
