Although i am a native spanish speaker, i was taught how to speak spanish formally in eighth grade as part of my grade curriculum. It was a very easy class being that i had experience already from speaking it in my household. However, a difficulty that arose was the different word translation in spanish. My teacher was teaching us spanish from spain, whereas i learned spanish from mexico, which has many shortcuts and informality in words. It was a bit of a struggle adapting to new words such as plumon en lugar de lapicero. however, i managed to adapt to the new word translation and work my way around it.
