Students study the genre-and-style patterns in (their) disciplines: forms/formats, language, genres, structures, citations (and multidisciplinary) Particularly suited for students with multiple and cross-disciplinary majors. Explores how writing and research are conducted across multiple disciplines and compare knowledge-and-inquiry patterns, genre-and-style patterns, and markers of disciplinarity across multiple disciplines. We will: read and write in academic/professional (argumentative) genres, adapt specialized information for nonspecialized audiences, write critically and clearly for postgraduate or professional situations. There are increased expectations of: competencies: sentence-level, basic research/citation, analytical essay writing, critical-thinking, research-based questioning, and rhetorical savviness, additional writing challenges: length, genre, research, stylistics. Set aside 10-12 hours per week to devote to engh 302. I strongly suggest that you formally set a routine schedule of dedicated time each week.
