Document Summary
Any changes on the outside of the function result in changes to the outputs of the function and graphically, shifts up or down or vertical stretches. Changes on the inside of the function (closest to x on f(x)) result in changes to the function"s inputs, and graphically, shifts left or right or horizontal stretches. Adding a value inside of the function shifts the function left, and conversely, subtracting moves it right. A negative on the outside of the function is a reflection over the x-axis while a negative inside of the function is a reflection over the y-axis. We learned and applied more about the average rate of change of a function/set of data. It is important to note that speed is defined as total distance over total time. The slope of a function can be defined as an equation. The one we commonly learned is y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.
