Geology, rate of movement, aquifers, measurements of groundwater aquifers. Book pages refer to 3rd edition: chapter 1: history of water, chapter 2: hydrologic cycle and climate, chapter 3 surface water. Skip 94-96 gis: chapter 4: groundwater. Read the geology of groundwater page 107-113, but specifics will not be on test. As you read, consider the potentiometric surface to be the same as the surface of the groundwater (for the purpose of this class). It is used to determine the direction and gradient of groundwater flow: your questions from the homework. Level 1: need to know the definitions of these terms in order to understand and answer questions, but being able to define or simply list them will not be a significant part of the exam.
