Young people have unique experiences due to a particular social and historical context. (all youth share some common experiences) Socialization: biology, genetics, hormones, how one is raised. Political system: youth have low power. Built into the legal system of: physical, cognitive. Adolescence and late teens are seen as a time of storm and stress. our society (laws and regulations) Economic system: youth used to be an economic necessity (contributed to household income, now, youth are an economic burden.
