Document Summary

In greek myths, the hero is not morally superior . Ordinary human being, though he lives an extraordinary life. Greek myths highlight what it is like to be an ordinary human being, not a saint or a modern hero (morally superior). The heroes can be disgusting or greedy etc. Foreign concept in our society- told we are free, no such thing. The things that happen to you must happen. every step that you have taken and every choice you thought you were taking freely was part of a blueprint of things that could not have been taken differently. The gods themselves do not set up the fates of human beings. They would take a thread, one would weave it (create your life), one would measure it (determine the length), one fate would cut it (end your life). Primitive greeks never worked out who fate was. Prometheus gave hope to humans from pandora"s jar.
