Language is productive- infinite number of words and symbols. Duality- letters can be formed to make different words. 1930 gua- kelloggs understood 100 words but couldn"t produce them. 1967 sarah- premack couple used plastic shapes to represent words. 1971 lana- rumbaugh used a keyboard to learn yerkish.
