In this article it began by talking about the 40 year celebration on title ix. This celebration of title ix was due to decades of administrators from small to large schools across the country working hard so that there were more opportunities for girls. After all this girls were still not equal to the boys they went to school with. Title ix started to get a lot of attention, because of the high school"s sport participation rates. The controversy was brought forth, because it was found that more boys were participating in high school sports than girls in 2011-2012 school year. A school in arizona"s deer valley unified school district did a survey/questionnaire for on the girls" in 8th to 12th grade on their athletic interest. The survey asked about their interest to play a specific sport. The survey showed that girls were interested in gymnastics and stunting. They had no desired to participate in any new sports.
