Refracting uses lenses to gather light, problems: it is very hard to make a large glass lens, this puts a lot of weight on the end of the tube. *a light bean slows down as it moves from a vacuum into glass. *if a light beam enters the glass at an angle, it slows down and changes direction. The bigger the telescope the more light we gather and finer detail we can see. Convection- bulk motion of a liquid, gas, or plasma. Heat is transferred through the sun through radiation; it is the only one that can travel in a vacuum. Continuous spectrum- when we see a continuous rainbow from a block body object. Absorption spectrum- when a gas cloud or interference absorbs light giving off from a black body. We would see a spectrum with different colors and black lines replaced for the absorbed colors.
