Document Summary

Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Beginning to the 1920s -> the science of mental life. 1920s to 1960s -> the scientific study of observable behavior. Hindsight bias is the tendency to believe, after learning an outcome, that one would have foreseen it. Psychologists study, assess, and treat troubled people with psychotherapy. Be sure to know the difference between description, correlation, and experimentation (explanation) methods. Correlation to observe and record behavior by computing statistical info or more factors while keeping other factors under control. Random selection - a random sample of subjects from a larger population of subjects. It is important because it will maintain the accuracy of an experiment. Be sure to know how to pick out the strongest versus weakest relationship by looking the correlation coefficients. A correlation coefficient measures the relationship between two variables.
