Teacher, child, parent, student, etc: similarities, class and status guide ideas and behaviors, differences, status doesn"t have to rely on income, job, or education. Just because you are a parent doesn"t say anything about your income, etc: status set- to occupy several positions at the same time, ex. A 13 year old college student wont have the same experiences as: roles in society a normal college student, roles are behaviors, obligations, and privileges attached to status, when you occupy a status, you play a role, ex. You can be a student that comes to class or a student that doesn"t come to class. If you don"t fulfill the expectations that come with a status, you may lose that status; expectations provide limited freedom: ex.
