Also the audience required the actors to perform encores as many times as they wanted if they were pleased with the performance: define, aesthetic distance- it allowed the audience to connect with the realistic performances. If the audience is extremely passive, then the aesthetic distance is lost. The living theatre was a nomadic group that traveled around europe and performed political plays. They wanted the audience to react to the scenes. Many times some viewers were so moved that they would scream and stand up during the performance. The living theatre would invite these audience members to join their group after the performance. Berlot brecht wanted the audience to be moved by the performance and react or find a different course of action to take.
