(being proud of yourself. ) Intellectual because they want to share their interest in the subject areas with others. Extrinsic: from the outside like candy or summer vacations: challenges: complexity- the 100s of decisions they make everyday in a split second. Multidimensional- large numbers of events and tasks take place because so many people are in a classroom. Simultaneous- classroom events and tasks take place at the same time. Public- teachers preform in fishbowls with people constantly observing their actions. The multiple roles of teaching: create a productive learning environment. Safe, inviting, focuses on learning, provides opportunities for growth: working with parents and other caregivers. Also, brings higher ratings for helpfulness and follow through: collaborating with colleagues. Can collaborate about curriculum, assessment, teaching strategies. Also, administrators assess ability to work with colleagues in job interviews. Characteristics of professionalism: a specialized body of knowledge.
