Document Summary

Theology final: define the whole christ using the texts listed on the syllabus. (still need explanation) The idea of whole christ comes from st. paul"s epistles to the ephesians: christ is the head of the churchwe are the members of his body (ephesians 5 23 29). In his essay exposition 2 of psalm 30, st. augustine discusses this notion of the whole christ by referring to scripture. When christ entered into the passion, we understand from scripture that fear is a crucial part of the passion. So when christ speaks and fears during the passion, he does not feel afraid or persecuted, but instead he says these things because we all say it with him. This idea is the wonderful business deal christ has made with humanity: he came to receive insults and give honors . As st. augustine says, the whole christ consists of head and body.
