Lab questions chi-square test for independence: among cocaine addicts, it is common for those seeking treatment to relapse. A study was designed to investigate the effectiveness of two treatments (desipramine and lithium) in treating cocaine addiction. 72 cocaine addicts was randomly assigned to one of three treatments (either one of the two drugs or a placebo). At the end of a six-week study, researchers recorded whether or not each subject had relapsed during the study.
