All 3 types of muscle cells are called myocytes. Cardiac and smooth muscle are involuntary bc they are not under conscious control cardiac muscle cells are also called cardiocytes contains a built-in pacemaker contract with a set of independent rhythm: which makes it auto rhythmic. The cells of heart contract together very slow twitches - does not exhibit quick twitches like skeletal muscle; but maintains tension for longer ime. Keeps arteries in state of parial constricion vasomotor tone. Unlike skeletal muscle, smooth maintains signiicant tension over a broader range of muscle length. Overview of nervous system endocrine and nervous system maintain internal coordinaion. Interconnect incoming sensory pathways with outgoing motor pathways of the cns. Variaion in neuron structure: mulipolar neuron: one axon and muliple dendrites. Neuroglial cells: one of the roles of these cells is to bind neurons and form a supporive framework which protects them.
