Gave people their first experience w/ democracy. Woman danced on stage, received death threats, took off her veil. Exercising her agency - her individual power, thoughts, actions. Fans of the show/women didn"t wear veils as an example. A council banned dancing as an effect of the girl"s action in season 1. Other woman was more conservative but still not a favorite because sexism. She"s under government protection because she lives closest to taliban. Out of thousands who auditioned, only 4 women auditioned. Government opposed the show because it made people think freely, but they allowed it to keep running because they knew people would riot and rebel. Show is still going on today, more women on it. People really came together, no matter where they came from. This show helped lift the morals of the country due to the taliban violence they"d been experiencing.
