May be single, double, triple - depending on # of pairs of electrons shared. Ionic bond: ions with opposite electrical charges form ionic bonds. Water interacions & hydrogen bonds stability of ions. Hydrogen bonds absorb heat when they break and release heat when they form, minimizing temperature changes.
