Comparative criminology: the study of crime as a social phenomenon focus is on the crime and as a social behavior focus is on the offender. Comparative criminal justice: the study of how various countries attempt to maintain social order and accomplish justice. Two major problems in comparing crime data between countries: Ensuring data is defined, reported, and recorded in a similar manner. Compiling crime data in a manner that allows researchers to conveniently compare different countries ie: definition of rape different definition in various countries, some variations included, some excluded. Chapter 2: domestic crime, transnational crime and justice: when we study crime, we have to gather crime data first. What are the strength/ advantages and weakness/ disadvantages of each one? (this part is not in the book, and i"ll explain in class)
