Lecture: social organization structure: explain the relationship between social structure and culture. Social structure, among many, is the persisting and bounded pattern of social relationships among the units in a social system. Social structure is the frame to which culture is attached social structure is the layout and infrastructure of the house social structure is made up of the beams, studs, walls, pipes, conduits, etc. of the house. Culture is what we attach to the walls, what flows through the pipes, what decorates the rooms, etc. The places people occupy in the larger system of interconnected positions. Expectations/norms for behavior: what you should, or should not do in a given situation. A role is the behavior someone associates with a status position. Role behavior varies across occupants of the same position. Role behavior reflects (1) expectations that come with a position, and (2) a person"s unique personality, experience, etc.
