He wrote comedies, in the midst of a 30 year war. Unhappy of the war time, missed the way things used to be - things are corrupt now. Ex: talk show host says terrorist were not cowards in 911 - the day after 911. By saying something controversial, he got pushed out of the public sphere. In greece it was accepted when aristophanes made fun important people. Big comedy, public people are ridicules/ made fun of, big/ aggressive ish mash of stuff, wild things, random, addressed current event - attacked famous people, praised regular people. Incongruity - saying 2 things that don"t go together. Things that don"t make sense, makes it funny. Grotesque - is incogrounity without humor - gross, not funny. Ex: horror film, frankenstein sewed together is gross/ disturbing/ cringe. Ex: comedian making a comedy skit -using all of the parts, random, no point, funny pictures. Establish the status quo - establish the backstory before the incident.
