Fall 2009 ch 231-001 exam 3 study guide. The exam will cover everything discussed in class through the end of chapter 9 on friday. Note, that we have not necessarily covered everything that was in these sections. If it was not discussed in class, you will not be responsible for it. Also, remember that you are responsible for the material from exams 1 and 2 (see exam 1 and 2 study guides). Listed below are topics that are of particular importance. This is not an exclusive list of what might be on the test, but outlines the things i consider particularly important. Determining structures unknown molecules: you should be able to use the reactions we"ve learned, particularly hydrogenation and ozonolysis, to determine possible structures of unknown compounds. Alkynes: be able to name molecules containing alkyne substituents using iupac rules. Recognizing chirality: be able to determine if a molecule or object is chiral by looking for a mirror plane of symmetry.
