Line between real world and media world is increasingly blurry. Narrative consistency- does the plot of the story make people believe that the sequence of actions is believable: the book suggests that judgments of reality can vary widely even among people of the same age and experience. Adults vary in degree of sophistication of their reality judgements. Audience exposure decisions guided by desire for it: consider audience"s perspective on the next step reality. Characteristics include real, non-scripted people in unordinary situations: this of the survivor show. Characters are real, nonscripted people but they are more attractive and prone to conflict. Knock offs- produced by different people who are copying the formula used by other people who produced the successful tv series on which the knock off is based. Documentary styles: cameras record what happens in everyday life (big brother) Reality-legal: people"s behavior is recorded as they deal with legal problems (cops)
