Houses and other objects are not as impacted by inversion. Special b/c inversion property ~10% of population is bad at face perception. Expert visual perception also is susceptible to inversion effects. Continuosuly looking at peoples faces gives use expertise in face perception. There are people with face blindness - prosopagnosia. People who are object blind don"t have the ability to recognize objects. Patient b: faces all distorted with eyes squinted Thought to be mildly psychotic but really there is biolgoical reason behind it. Chuck close could not judge people by their face/ recall meeting people but can paint with exquisiste detail. Oliver sacks helped jane gooddall realize she was face blind. Patient ck: object blind but can see faces. Super recognizers were no longer so super with face inversion. Although grandfather couldn"t see well, he was able to describe visual facial hallucinations. Functional organization in adults - we process faces in different parts of brain than objects.
