Stress increases heart rate, blood pressure, and inflammation which increases coronary artery disease. Stressors like emotional event and pain trigger asthma attack. Mothers who stress more likely to deliver preterm babies with lower birth weights. Chronic stress more damaging than acute stress. Stress contributes to development of depressive symptoms. Ptsd produces long lasting suppression of immune system.
